Here at Wydale in the run upto Christmas we do our best to make the Hall look really special, with a number of beautifully dressed trees and other decorations around the Hall. There will be mulled wine and mince pies and plenty of opportunity to soak up the elegance of the Hall. Why not bring your family and friends? Maybe your small group from church or your whole church even? (we can cope with groups of upto 85). The above menu will be available at 1.00pm, or 7.30pm throughout December. But booking is essential.
Here is our latest offering to York-based Charity 'Bundles of Joy'. The charity exists to help support families with new-born babies by providing Moses baskets (bundles) full of the sorts of things that new families need and can't always afford - clothes, baby equipment, toiletries, nappies etc. Here at Wydale our guests will often spend a happy half-hour knitting a square which we then turn into baby blankets to go into the Bundles of Joy.
This one is slightly different. We had a period of making larger squares and so we have created a full sized blanket which will go to one of the families in need - as an extra gift and treat for, perhaps, Mum or Dad.
Every square is knitted with love and with prayers for the family whom it will end up with. We are so grateful to all those who have been part of this project, from Bishops to youth group members. As we were photographing it we were so struck by the many many people who have been part of blessing someone who they don't know.
There is always knitting to be done and the next blanket projects are well underway!
We were delighted to welcome a group of over 100 18-30 year olds from The Belfrey in York for the weekend 9-11 February 2018. It was wonderful to see the hall filled with young people worshiping and learning more about living the Christian life. They enjoyed talks from Revds Ben Doolan and Mathew Porter, seminars on Worship and Evangelism and lots of fun social time together. The Hall was full!
